Rainer Maria Rilke

Here is one of my favourite poems of the great Rainer Maria Rilke. As I didn't like any of the translations of the poem, I made my own. I hope you like it

Lösch mir die Augen aus

Lösch mir die Augen aus: ich kann dich sehn,
wirf mir die Ohren zu: ich kann dich hören,
und ohne Füße kann ich zu dir gehn,
und ohne Mund noch kann ich dich beschwören.
Brich mir die Arme ab, ich fasse dich
mit meinem Herzen wie mit einer Hand,
halt mir das Herz zu, und mein Hirn wird schlagen,
und wirfst du in mein Hirn den Brand,
so werd ich dich auf meinem Blute tragen.

Extinguish my eyes

Extinguish my eyes: I can see you,
seal my ears: I can hear you,
and without feet I can walk towards you,
and without a mouth even I can conjure you.
Break off my arms, I’ll capture you
with my heart as with a hand,
stop my heart, and my brain will beat,
and if you throw the fire in my brain ,
so I will carry you on my blood.
