The Boy Who Saw Me

Awkward smile
Bright eyes, black curls soft as a shadow
A mind blazing with ideas - tangled words, patterns, and a sea of love

For the broken ones who don't know how to contain all of their
misaligned, misunderstood, unwelcome,
different ways of functioning -  or dysfunctioning

Neurodivergent, he says, grinning -
Always struggling, never giving up
On the sheer impossibility of just being
In a world too small for him

And through the fog of the world,
We see each other clearly
Not afraid to speak our minds
And share desires, even if they won’t be met

He’s a man with the heart of a boy
And strong arms with the courage to hug

Long. Inappropriate. Awkward.
